Board & Train
Customized Board and Train
GVDT offers customized board and train programs that are designed specifically to suit your dog and your family’s dog training needs. Whether you are in need of a reliable recall with your dog, desire to put a stop to his counter-surfing, want to achieve better overall manners, or perhaps you would like your dog to be more confident in certain everyday-life situations – these are only a few examples of what is possible through a customized board and train program.
The customized board and train option is available after our initial one-on-one private lesson where I meet with you and your dog to assess, identify, and thoroughly discuss your dog training needs. In this lesson, we will begin to lay the important groundwork with respect to wanted, as well as unwanted behaviors. I will provide clear instructions that will help you immediately and will prepare your dog for their board and train stay. Based on our lesson together, I will design a customized training plan that is specific to your individual dog training needs and suggest the length of the training stay that is necessary for the learning process and conditioning of behaviors. In some cases, dogs and owners just need a jump-start to get things going. In other cases, a lengthier stay is warranted to deeply condition behaviors.

Puppy Jumpstart Program
Do you have a new puppy? Do you want to set your new puppy up for success? GVDT’s Puppy Jumpstart Program might be a great option for you. This program is a 2-week board and train program wherein I will work with your puppy to begin laying a foundation of good manners and basic obedience. We will work daily on shaping behaviors like polite leash manners, recall, “place”, crate training, not jumping on people, waiting at doorways, and more.
This program is for puppies 16 to 28 weeks and is available after an Initial Private Lesson.
Obedience Enrichment Program
This training program is designed for owners who want a trained dog but lack the time, willingness, or ability to train their own dog. During the course of this 4-week program, your dog takes part in fun and engaging training sessions throughout each week, including group training sessions with other GVDT canine students. Training takes place in various places ranging from our spacious 10 acres to neighborhood settings and other public places (i.e.: Home Depot, pet stores, outdoor patios of restaurants, parks, playgrounds, etc.). This enrichment program gives your dog the opportunity to experience different settings, environments, and levels of distraction with the expectation of exhibiting good manners and obedience, regardless of the environment. During this program, your dog also takes part in daily play time with other dog-friendly dogs who are in my training programs.
Dogs who complete this program have an understanding of good general manners, and are able to demonstrate the following commands/behaviors:
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Recall (come when called)
- Leave it
- Wait, before entering and exiting through doors/crates/vehicles
- Walk nicely on a loose leash
- Place or “go to bed”
- Crate trained
In some cases, depending on the dog’s temperament and age, your dog may also be able to demonstrate these behaviors off-leash reliably with the use of an electronic collar (e-collar).
This enrichment program is suitable for puppies and dogs who do not exhibit any behavioral issues.
Included in this program is one (1) follow-up lesson wherein you will be educated on what your dog learned and how you can best follow through with your dog’s training to ensure lasting results.
Structured Boarding
GVDT Structured Boarding is a VIP service available only to GVDT Alumni dogs that have completed a board and train program. One of the huge benefits of your dog completing a board and train program with me is having access to join us for structured boarding.
Structured boarding is boarding with benefits! With us, your dog will be safe, comfortable, able to socialize with other dogs, rewarded for good decisions, and held accountable for poor choices. Structured boarding provides a great alternative to mass boarding situations, and helps to preserve the hard work you and your dog have put into his training.
